Sweet Home Alabama literally mogs The Notebook i’m sorry. sweet home alabama actually has personality. like why is jake perry more romantic covered in grease saying three words than noah building an entire house 😭. melanie choosing between rich new york fiancé (and he's hottttttt) and her dusty southern ex husband (hes cuteeeeee) who acts like he fistfights drywall for fun should not have been a hard decision. be serious. patrick dempsey was sweet but he never stood a chance against a man who says “you can’t have roots and wings” and loved her for her. although i would've been fine if she ended up with big city guy. he was so cute! and he stuck by her. they just didn't have that drama chemistry that makes jake and melanie feel more homey. also the movie just gets the specific humiliation of leaving your hometown, becoming fake sophisticated, then realizing everyone back home still remembers when you dated the wrong guy or ran over a bunny on accident. and honestly the alabama people seemed more fun anyway. new york in that movie looked stressful as hell. and i NEED movies to bring back male leads who look a little unemployed. jake perry looked like he got into arguments at bass pro shops. that is cinema. enough with clean quiet men who look like they meditate and have fillers.
