the psychology of posting and deleting

nothing reveals someone’s mental state faster than posting something dramatic then deleting it 14 minutes later because what do you mean you hard launched your boyfriend, soft launched your breakdown, posted “don’t text me” on your story, THEN vanished before anyone could even finish stalking it. terrifying behavior. very bird hitting a window and flying away. jason i don't care about the 'dhmu' on your story, dearest. del.... and everyone acts like deleting means nobody saw it. babe. people saw it. screenshots were taken. group chats were activated. somebody’s roommate was just shown your blurry black and white selfie with lana del rey lyrics over it... i wonder if instagram plus will thwart this.... but honestly sometimes you post because you want ONE specific person to see it. then the second they view it you suddenly become aware of your own existence and delete everything out of shame. it’s also always the posts you barely think about that stay up forever. but the second you actually care? immediate panic. suddenly you’re staring at your own instagram story and nothing causes more psychological damage than deleting something then reposting it later because you convinced yourself the first flop was due to timing. not the content. never the content.
