uni friendships

uni friendships are weird at first. everyone walks around like they already belong somewhere, even when they don’t. the trick is to stop waiting for it to feel natural and just start acting like you’re already part of things. sit beside someone new in class. say something small. not deep, not perfect, just real. most people are lowkey hoping someone else breaks the silence first, so when you do, it sticks.

the best friends in uni aren’t always the ones you expected. it’s not about finding people exactly like you, it’s about finding people who match your energy. the ones who stay a bit longer after class, who laugh too hard at nothing, who text you “are you going” before anything even happens. those are your people. it builds slowly, like inside jokes that don’t make sense to anyone else and routines you didn’t plan but suddenly can’t drop.

also, you have to show up. not in a fake way, just consistently. go to the same places. say yes more than you think you should. friendships need repetition. they grow in the in-between moments, walking to class, grabbing food, sitting around doing nothing. that’s where people actually become part of your life.

and honestly, don’t stress if it doesn’t click right away. some friendships take a full semester to even start feeling real. some won’t last. that’s normal. you’re not doing it wrong, you’re just filtering. the right ones feel easy, like you don’t have to perform or shrink or explain yourself too much.
