when a guy gets caught getting rejected cheating

the most embarrassing genres of male behavior. like not only did you cheat, but you also failed. double loss. because there’s something uniquely pathetic about finding out a guy stepped out, tried to line something up, got curved, and then still had to come back and explain himself. suddenly it’s all excuses. “it didn’t mean anything.” “nothing even happened.” “i was just drunk.” okay. but the intention was there. you were willing to risk the relationship for someone who didn’t even want you. and that’s the part that stings the most. not just the betrayal, but the realization that they overestimated their own desirability. it’s the audacity mixed with delusion. they act like getting rejected somehow makes it better, like oh relax i didn’t even cheat successfully. as if trying doesn’t already say everything. and then they want sympathy. like they’re embarrassed. like you’re supposed to comfort them for being rejected while you’re processing the fact that they disrespected you. no. getting rejected doesn’t undo the decision. it just adds humiliation to it. because if the only thing stopping you from cheating was someone else’s lack of interest, that tells me everything i need to know about your loyalty. and honestly, once you see that, it’s hard to unsee it.
